Dawn Bates : Company Director
Dawn joined Mercia in 1987 as a young optimistic Recruitment Consultant and has enjoyed a very successful and progressive career with the company ever since.
Having been instrumental to the advancement of the business over the years and never losing her enthusiasm for recruitment, Dawn has recently achieved one of her ambitions which was, in fact, to buy the company from its founder member, Chris Chamberlain.
Dawn is delighted to confirm that the buyout went ahead as hoped, with Chris’s best wishes for the future, at the end of April 2005
Likes : Blue skies, good company, family life, sociable cats, big band, 70’s and 80’s music!
Dislikes : Negativity, insincerity, her own wrinkles and porta-loo’s!

Chimène Felton : Business Development Manager
Chimène started work in recruitment in 1987 and has successfully run both temporary and permanent desks during her career, this also included dealing with specialist Accounting roles.
After spending 6 years working outside of recruitment as an Account Executive, redundancy ‘forced’ her to take a 6 month sabbatical and travel the world with her husband! (It was tough but someone had to do it!) Since coming back to the UK Chimène returned to Mercia and the wonderful world of recruitment – the rest, as they say, is history!
Likes : Fine wine, travel and soul music. What a way to see the world – visiting as many wineries as possible singing your heart and ‘soul’ out!
Dislikes : Spelling mistakes and bad manners! It’s not difficult to use a
dictionary or to say please and thank you…aaagh! (Thank you for reading this!)

Andrea Weatherhill – Payroll
Andrea joined Bates & Co this year, having recently moved to Shropshire from Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. While living on this Scottish Isle, apart from working for a number of businesses running their weekly accounts and payroll procedures, she also had an off screen part in the children’s TV programme Balamory where she had to get her dog to chase after PC Plum whilst wearing a pantomime deer costume…!! (the dog that is and not Andrea or the policeman!)
